We are excited to announce the official launch of the 2Wheel Academy and would like to introduce you to our first two teams based in Armidale! The 2Wheel Academy aims to grow the sport of cycling, in particular mountain biking, whilst also helping young people learn the behaviours and skills that are associated with successful lives. Co-founders Matt Battye and Dean Clarke have been working hard to provide young riders with easy access to the cycling community through a structured framework, making cycling an accessible option for young riders across Australia. By teaming up with local mountain biking clubs and bike stores, the 2Wheel Academy can provide young riders with the opportunity to follow their passion for cycling, whilst developing life skills and making new and lasting friendships.
We are thrilled to introduce you to the 2Wheel Academy Race and Development squads established in Armidale earlier this year. The 2Wheel Academy in Armidale is the only recognised team in Northern NSW outside of major cities, and will work with New England Mutual and the Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS) who are both passionate about the development of children in sport. The two squads are supported by Bicycle Central on Marsh, with owner David Harris excited to get the team up and running and is eager to be involved with athletes that are keen to improve the sport. Bicycle Central will play a crucial role in providing bikes, equipment, advice and servicing to squad members who train with the 2Wheel Academy squads.
The Armidale squads have access to six different riding sites that each have their own unique styles and trails, offering dynamic challenges and experiences to the riders. Both of our squads will compete at a range of racing series on a number of levels including; the local Summer and Winter series; regional events such as the Northern Inland Cross-Country series; State Championships; and the National Series and Championships. Riders aged 15 and upwards can compete in these events which run throughout the year.
Coming soon to Albury… The Cycle Station Team!
We are also proud to announce the expansion of the 2Wheel Academy into the Albury/Wodonga region via the formation of the new Cycle Station Team, thanks to the support from Cycle Station Albury! This new partnership means that we are currently looking for young people in the Albury/Wodonga region who are interested in cycling to be a part of our new team. We encourage anyone in the Albury/Wodonga region who is interested in cycling to get in touch with Jason at Cycle Station via email at [email protected] to receive more information about becoming a squad member.
